When Gainesville Country Day School approached me about a redesign (for a site that I built them 4 years prior), we agreed early on that the redesign would center around a major reduction in the amount of copy on the site. The goal for the new site would be a more concise structure with a clearer distinction between content for existing parents, and content for prospective parents.
GCDS described their ideal site as clean, friendly, inviting, easy to navigate — with lots of photos.
One of the major requirements for this project was the calendar. Built with the assistance of the smd_calendar plugin for Textpattern (and a tad bit of jQuery) the calendar allows users to select and view only the feeds that are relevant to them.
